An aside on Ants

An aside on our tiny friends.

Many of us in our homeowner lives will at some point battle the tiny marvel of nature that is the ant. This small creature, necessary as it is to our world around us, is quite unwelcome in our homes. The battle to repel their small invasions can take many forms and involve many weapons. From caulk to tape, weather strips and poisons. You are no sooner convinced that every ant is dead, every entry sealed, before another tiny invader appears. The tiniest crack or crevice seemingly as cavernous to them as a canyon. There is however a solution to this problem. One so simple and obvious that once I tell you of it you may wonder why you could not think of it yourself. I tell you do not fret for many riddles are made of obvious answers and I myself only divined this one after many hours of toil and struggle.

The answer my friends, is simply to burn down your house. There it is. No more complicated than a spritz of gas and a few matches (though you may want to spirit them out of sight before the Fire Department arrives). You will find that once burned to the ground there can be no invasion. Ants, though unrelenting, can not invade a home that is not there.

So there you are my friends. An easy answer to an ancient question. May you double check your insurance coverage before we speak again.
